They generally use a two-chain conveying system, with a driving station using sprockets (toothed or pocket wheel type) and the chain guided by intermediate and reverse wheels following the path required for conveying the bulk material.
In the most advanced and demanding configurations, this kind of conveyors makes use of special long-pitch chains, corresponding to the standard CICSA LH and MH. The chains type LH and MH designed for these conveyors are carburized and specially heat-treated to achieve exceptionally high resistance to wear together with high tensile stress resistance.
Chain ends are several meters long. They are manufactured with extremely high precision (tolerance on the length in each pair is 0.05% at the most), and joined together by means of special couplings (CICSA couplings GZ); scraping elements are fitted directly on the chain with special fittings.
